The confusing world of garage doors can be broken down into 3 basic types:
~ Up & Over
~ Roller
~ Sectional.
Most types of door can be made electrically operated at any time. But which one is right for you?

Pros -
Wide range of designs, choice of colours and finishes, e.g primed, plastisol, or deep textured powder coating
Canopy doors have neat fittings, no space is take up inside the garage
Retractable which slides back on tracks into the garage, useful in windy or high passing traffic (e.g back alley) areas
Cons -
You need to leave space in front of the garage and once parked inside for the door to move through its natural line of travel
Wheelie bins! Any objects caught under the door can do serious damage to the operating mechanism
Roller Shutters -
Pros -
Wide range of colours
Few moving parts, less to go wrong
Insulated doors are stronger, and retain heat, ideal for integral garages or workshops
In case of damage, insulated doors can be replaced by the lath, not the whole curtain, keeping costs down

Takes up headroom in garage
Not suited for garages with windows above the door
Sectional Doors -
Pros -

Not suited for garages with windows above the door
And then there are the electric doors.
But you don't need us to tell you how fantastic they are on the cold, dark, rainy, windy night, when you can pull up outside your garage, press a button, and hey presto the door opens, with you staying warm and dry in your cosy car!
